I don't relate too well to what they call Country music these days. Which seems to me to just be watered down folk rock...I like Dark Country..Gram Parsons John Prine etc....I really love when more edgier artists explore country like Nick Cave or Frank Black or Beck..that's where I'm at
lyrics
I want no part of the new country
I wear the old country right on my sleeve
Give me an old backwater baptist revival
cause i want no part of that new country beat
Now i'm a believer in progress and fusion
I can mix anything into my hash
But i don't mix my Dylan in my Sinatra
Stop laying metal into Haggard and Cash
I want no part of the new country
I wear the old country right on my sleeve
Give me an old back porch sunshine recital
cause i want no part of that new country thing
Now I'm not offended by ways of seduction
I like me a little sugar in my tea
But clown painted hussies in high heels and leather
Don't make no honky- tonk angels to me
I want no part of the new country
I wear the old country right on my sleeve
Give me an old campfire nighttime rehearsal
cause i want no part of that new country scene
Now i like a fiddle I like steel string and banjo
If I need a rhythm I'll slap on my knee
What in the world are you banging so loud on?
You don't need a hammer to bring home the heat
I want no part of the new country
I wear the old country right on my sleeve
I'll take the high road you take the opry
cause i want no part of that new country beat
I want no part of the new country
