I came up with this title after drawing a stick figure of a devil holding a match to the twin towers after 9/11. I only wrote the song 15 years later but it's certainly about the mischief of that day...
lyrics
Someone's been playing with matches
Things are burning all over town
Ain't nothing left but the ashes
and strange footprints all around
People downtown are hearing strange things in the alley
Keeping them busy at the fire brigade
Picking up the pieces of the mess that He made
Cause the Devil with a matchstick
Ya he burned it to the ground
Ya the Devil with a matchstick
He burned it to the ground
Someone's been pissing off the people
Everybody's running around
Holy Rollers talkin bout evil
Something strange goin' down
Everybody's sayin' that there must be something in the water
Keepin' them busy at the police stand
Someone's in the alley with something in his hand
It's the Devil with a matchstick
gonna burn it to the ground
Ya the Devil with a matchstick
gonna burn it to the ground
